Last Saturday

This past Saturday Jamie and I took the kids to Blooms Day at the UT Gardens. It was the 25th anniversary of the festival and to celebrate UT Federal Credit Union paid everyone's admission. I don't know how much tickets usually cost, but free seemed like the right price for me! I had been to the Gardens before for the Books and Blooms Storytime, but I had no idea what to expect for Blooms Day.

Julia had quite a bit of fun playing in the sprinklers:

She also enjoyed the ride-on caterpillar in the butterfly tent:

Dax was just along for the ride:

If I thought she would sit still long enough, I would have let her get her face painted. There were crafts and other activities for the kids and a gardening craft fair for the grown-ups. I probably would have gotten more out of the experience if I had any interest in landscaping at all. But I don't. We did stroll through the herb garden which I enjoyed. Our stroll picked up its pace considerably when Jamie and I began noticing the large number of bumblebees buzzing around!

Julia did not like standing by the lilies. (She's upset because she yanked off one of the flowers and tore it to shreds and I wouldn't let her do that to the rest of them):

Now, here's the part where you'll think I'm lying. Really. But I'm not. It's true. Ask Jamie.

We walked back to the car and I could NOT believe it. The back door of the car was OPEN. Again. I may have said a naughty word or two. Seriously, I am too dumb to leave the house. Especially with children.
