Yesterday, Dave and I thought we'd get out of the house and enjoy the nice weather. I suggested going to Market Square for lunch and a walk around downtown. We got everyone dressed and ready and headed out.
When we got to the parking garage it was packed. We had to go to the fourth level before we found a spot. This is fairly unusual for a Saturday. We found out later that a company was having their "Employee Appreciation Fair" that day and had set up in Market Square. It gave Julia a lot to observe.
Three hours later, after eating lunch at Tomato Head and letting Julia tromp around, we decided to leave. As we came off the elevator at the parking garage, I glanced over at our car and asked Dave, "Did I just go off and leave the back door wide open?"
Dave looked over and said, "Is that our car?"
"Yes"
"Then I guess so."
That's right. I had taken Dax out of the car, put him in the stroller and wandered off without looking back. Left the door to the car wide open. For three hours.
Fortunately nothing was stolen so I suppose there's no harm done, but due to the unprecedented level of my absentmindedness, I have suggested that Dave start counting the children every time he gets home. Just to be sure.

I would love to pat you on the shoulder and tell you it gets better, but, alas...
But, hey, Happy Mother's Day!
Children just make you trust the world a little more. And that no one wants your car stereo.
Uh, I meant and REMIND you that no one wants your stereo. I tried.
