We had an interesting time last night during Julia's dinnertime bottle.
Julia's diaper decided it was being selfish keeping all her ... er, liquid gold to itself and decided to share. In plain English, about halfway through the bottle, I felt a warm, wet spot growing on my pants as Julia's diaper leaked on me. After changing my outfit and Julia's, we went back to the feeding. After the rest of the bottle, Julia sat digesting her formula for a few minutes until her tummy decided to talk back and she puked all over herself and me. The American Academy of Pediatric's book, Caring for Your Baby and Young Child, had mentioned that vomiting was more forceful than just spitting up. I understand that now. From a slightly reclining position, Julia managed to soak the front of her shirt, BOTH legs of my pants and she even got some over both my legs onto the couch! Quite a gal!
After my second change of clothes for the day and Julia's third, I called my mom for advice and we ended up feeding her a few ounces of watered down formula every hour or so (whenever she started screaming because she was hungry) and watching to make sure it stayed down. She hasn't thrown up again and we are back up to full strength formula this morning. Hopefully it was just a temporary upset stomach.
