We've been working to get Julia on a good nighttime schedule. Right now her bedtime routine consists of Dave giving her a bottle in her room at 8 pm and then putting her in her crib. She usually wakes up for another bottle between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am, and again around 3:45 am. The other night I was lucky and she didn't wake up until 5 am. Then she sleeps again until around 7:30 am.
Eventually, we'd like the routine to include a bath, a bottle and a book. And once we put her in bed, a prayer. I've been working on coming up with a short, simple prayer that does not include the phrase "If I should die before I wake." Usually this exercise in creativity occurs during the 4 am bottle, so I can't really tell if what I've come up with is any good. Comments, suggestions and ideas welcome:
Last thing at night, I stop and pray
To thank you Lord for the past day.
I ask You to bless my family,
All my friends, and also me.

Okay, I'm taking suggestions and working them in. The updated prayer:
Last thing tonight, I stop and pray
To thank you Lord for the past day.
Please bless and keep my family,
All my friends, and also me.

I like that a lot. What about making it a bit less wordy for a small child:
Last at night I stop and pray
To thank you Lord for this day.
Please bless and keep my family,
All my friends, and also me.
Mom
I like your third line better than mine ... I'm going to steal it!
