Summer 2005: Spain

Selected photos from our
Summer 2005 Europe trip
Part I: Spain

At the bottom of the aquaduct in Segovia

Near the top of the aquaduct in Segovia

Just me. Hanging out in front of a castle.

Since flash photography was not allowed inside the castle, stained glass windows were the easiest things to take pictures of. I especially like the horse stepping on the guy's head.

In the courtyard area of Palace Real (Madrid)

You'd think they'd put the toilets inside the palace. hee

Mom and I on the bus to Toledo. I don't know why she's making that weird face. Just because she's Mom, I guess.

In Spain (and Italy, too, for that matter) at lunch most of the restaurants have a "Menu del Dia." Typically, you choose a first course, second course and dessert (sometimes, if you're lucky) and get a glass of wine, coke or water for a set price. This one is a little steep because we're in a tourist area, but it's the only example I took a picture of. Typically the price was about 9 euros.

I think we're standing in front of one of the gates into (or out of) Toledo. My memory's a little hazy on the location of some of these shots.

This is the view of Toledo from a courtyard of the Cristo de la Luz.

Same view, I just switched out my picture buddy.

Yummiest Mexican food in Madrid!

Me sitting waiting by the cool glass elevators at the Reina Sofia.

In front of the Palacio de Cristal in Retiro Park in Madrid. A great park. I wish we could have picked it up and set it down here in Knoxville. That would have been the perfect souvenir.

View of the Palacio de Cristal from across the pond. Well, from one side of the pond.

A fountain in Retiro Park. Oh, and we're standing in front of the fountain.

This is a different pond in the park, a much bigger one. You could rent boats and cruise around. It was pretty hot so we decided just to watch. Mom told me who the statue guy is, but I've forgotten.

I don't have many pictures of my dad (big surprise). Here is everyone's back as they walk through Retiro Park.
