Echo

Some of my favorite Echo pictures.

Her first day at home
(22 October 2005)

Here she is hanging out with Dave in the kitchen of her new home. (Our new home, too! And we should probably hurry up and get those cabinet doors sanded, painted and back where they belong!)

Also her first day at home. For most of the entire first week we had her, she would sit on our feet if we were standing or in our lap if we were sitting. She always had to be right next to one of us.

At her first vet visit, Dr. Peterson was concerned because Echo had licked the site of her incision and irritated the skin. So, Echo had to wear an Elizabethan collar. She learned quickly though. With the collar off, when she would lick the site, we would say "No!" If she started licking again, we would put the collar on. After a couple of times, she quit licking the site and healed nicely.

She loved the gorilla. It didn't take long before she chewed the nose off and tried to eat the stuffing inside. Bye, bye gorilla!

She's so cute when she's asleep! She likes to sleep on the floor of our bedroom with her head under the bed.

Playing fetch in the backyard. She gets distracted easily and forgets to pick up the ball. She's pretty good at "Bring it here!" and "Let go" Her main problem is transferring commands to different situations. She obeys "Let go" in the garage, but not in the living room. Maybe she's just messing with my head.

Worn out after playing fetch, she sleeps with her elephant.

Am I in trouble?

Again, so cute asleep! Even if she took over my TV watching chair. Soon, she'll be too big to fit, and I'll get it back!

This is from today. We have about 10 of those puppy bones from Nylabone around the house. She'll only chew one end of them. It's very odd ... and a waste of half a bone!

That's our puppy! She's growing so fast. When we brought her home, she weighed about 9 pounds. David weighed her this morning, and she weighed 20 pounds! I think we may have a big dog on our hands. We were going to start puppy classes at PetsMart on Wednesday, but since Christmas is soon and PetsMart is near the mall and we didn't want to deal with Christmas mall traffic, we've decide to postpone them until January. I hope we haven't filled her up with bad habits by then! She's doing relatively well with potty training. Our goal is to actually make it through a week with no accidents in the house. So far she's managed 3 days.
