First Times

Julia tried to put her blue jeans on all by herself today for the first time. Usually she just tells me they are too hard to put on and would I please help her. And compared to the leggings and pull-on skirts she usually wears, blue jeans are a bit tricky. But today it was cold-ish and I couldn't find any leggings in the laundry pile so she had to wear jeans.

Now, two things to know about Miss Julia:

1) Once she puts on her outfit there is no getting her to change it. Whether it is on inside out, backwards or just looks a little odd, she got herself dressed and, by gum, she likes it!

and

2) She loves to wear both her underwear and the aforementioned leggings backwards. Why? Well, so the tag can be in the front where it is easily reached, of course!

This plan doesn't work as well with jeans ...


She spent the entire day hitching up her pants as they slid down her rear end. And wore them this way to the grocery store, the library, the garden center and to church. Nothing and no one could convince her to change them.

I love this age :)
