Dave has been trying to show me for YEARS (well, ever since I got my new camera) about the different settings on my camera and what they mean. Since I got my new lens, I have to use something other than my usual "Automatic" setting on the camera. The "Automatic" setting makes the camera do all the work: you point the lens at what you want to shoot, push the shutter button down halfway and the camera reads all the information in less than half a second and figures out what settings you need to take a good picture. But my new lens has to be set on a manual setting in order for me to take advantage of the main reason I got the lens: a low (f/1.8) f-stop**. So, in short, I've had to start listening to my husband :)

And I've learned a LOT. Which leads me to believe I should do that more often!

BUT, I really just want to show you these two adorable pictures of DaxMan that I took when playing around with the settings on my camera. These are two typical Dax expressions that we see everyday.

The cuteness level in our household is truly off the charts.

**I can't get all technical about it because I don't really get it, so I'll just tell you that the f-stop affects the depth of focus. You pick what you want in focus in your picture and the things behind and in front of it are blurry. The lower the f-stop, the more blurry they are.

(and I spent all day yesterday working on getting new pictures uploaded to Flickr in the hopes of getting caught up ... I'm up to March!)

congrats on the new lens - don't you love playing with the DOF? And Dax looks adorable - he's getting big, I can tell just by the pictures.

Thanks! I am having so much fun!

And, yes, he's getting monstrous. I can't believe my little guy is so big!
