I found a Mother's Day card in one of my Box 'o Things From Childhood. It was made maybe in preschool or Sunday School in 1981 (I was six). The teacher evidently went around the circle and asked each child "Why are Mommies special?" then typed up our answers to put in the card.
Blake says, "My mommie is special because she takes me to school and to get ice cream sometimes." Kale says his mom is special because "She tucks me in at night and helps me when my daddy is gone. And they love you." Melanie thinks mommies are special because "they vacuum your room." Joanna--No Comment. "She feeds me and sometimes makes my bed," says Amy. Jeremy Lavake said that his mom was special because "she signed me up for T-balll!" Cheryl said, "She took me to a movie on my birthday and she cooks supper." "She lets me have ice cream" is why Olivia's mom is special. Michael says his mom "lets me ride her ten-speed." Ashley said her mom was special because she "takes me to school." and Davy said his mom "gets me big things that cost alot."
FANTASTIC. On the back my mom has written the note "Joanna told me that by the time her turn came, everyone else had said the things she wanted to say." I guess she'd rather have me say nothing than to say she's special because she "gets me big things that cost alot."
(I did the bolding of the text.)
