Happy 4th

July 4th is my favorite holiday. The food, music, fireworks, parades. What's not to love? We didn't get to experience any of the excitement firsthand this year. The Peanut wasn't interested in letting me eat a hot dog. The music/fireworks displays in and around town didn't want dogs around. Plus, after seeing Echo's response to the fireworks set off the night before (terrified barking) we didn't want to drag her along to the real thing. Nor did we want to shut her in her crate and leave her to experience the extravaganza alone. So, we stayed home and watched it on TV. (Side question: What was with PBS showing "A Capitol Fourth" rather than the Boston Pops? I'm sorry, but watching a parade of B-list actors and has-been music stars does not even compare to seeing Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops through a concert of my favorite music. Bah.) Next year we need to make sure we're visiting McMinnville for the holiday. :)

We will plan to meet you there - our 4th was even less interesting. I missed McMinnville, too.

My holiday consisted of being at work from 6:15 to 10:30 a.m. and then going to see "Superman Returns" and taking a nap. Oh, I also cleaned and unpacked stuff. Extremely exciting. I want to be in McMinnville next year, too!

So, we're all agreed that McMinnville rocks the 4th like no place else. My favorite part is being able to just stroll over to Rusty and Tamra's yard to watch the fireworks. And the homemade ice cream.
