Baby showers (just one, actually)

My friend, Jana, is a member of the BMS Survivors' Club (motto: We got out alive!) and also very pregnant with her second baby girl. It was in honor of the second fact that her Disciple group members threw her a shower on Tuesday at Stir Fry Cafe out at Turkey Creek. Carole had called to tell me about it a couple of weeks ago, I wrote it down on my calendar and got every bit of information wrong except for the place. If I hadn't gone by Gresham to drop off the Book Fair flyers Tuesday morning, I would have shown up at the Stir Fry Cafe at Turkey Creek on Friday at 5:30 pm. As it was, I showed up at 5:30 pm on Tuesday night which was an hour earlier than I was supposed to, but at least I had the correct day. My brain apparently turned off during the conversation with Carole.
I did nearly convince her that SHE got it wrong, and the shower was scheduled for Friday.
Her Disciple group had decorated the area we were in with hearts and balloons. It added some color and cuteness to the decor.
Except for Jana, Carole was pretty much the only person I knew at the shower. We ended up at the end of one table catching up on all our news. When you go from working with someone every weekday to only talking to them once a week, you end up with a lot of stories to share. The three ladies at the other end of the table ended up dragging us over there to join in their conversation. :)
I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I had a chicken and snow pea dish. The chicken was rubbery and tasted horrible. The veggies were undercooked, nearly raw. It was the sort of meal I wouldn't have been surprised to find in front of me on an airplane. I couldn't eat it. Dave ate the leftovers and even he thought it was bad.
The strawberry cake, however, was delicious. Moist with just the right amount of icing. And yummy strawberry.
I had to leave before Jana opened our gift, but I'm sure she loved it. :)

You should review the restaurant on that Yelp site if it was bad, so other people can beware. That food sounds pretty bad!

I'm looking forward to the day when I get to have a baby shower for my best friends - it sounds like it would be fun.
