Vet Visit

I took Echo to the vet today. We didn't get to see Dr. Peterson. We had to make do with some new guy. He looked at her teeth and asked if I was sure about the date of her birth. I told him, "No, I just made it up." He looked at me to see if I was joking and I explained. When I brought her for her first visit, the receptionist told me they had to put a birthday on her record. So, we counted back 8 weeks and picked a day. We took the humane society's word that she was 8 weeks old when we got her. He said she should be getting her adult teeth in if she was 15 weeks old. No sign of 'em, so he thinks she could be a couple of weeks younger than originally assumed. I'm not sure on the timing of dogs getting their adult teeth. I thought it was a fairly wide range, 3-5 months or so. Maybe Jenny can let me know.

She had her shot, ate 2 treats and had her temperature taken for the first time. She did NOT like that! The whole time she pushed closer and closer to me. Her ears were flat against her head, her tail trying to tuck under, and even though my face was right next to her nose, she didn't even try to lick it. Afterwards, she scooted backwards on the table until her butt hit the wall and cuddled right next to me. I guess she figured she wanted me to protect her, but if I couldn't do it, she'd make sure they couldn't get to her rear end again! She cheered up when she ate the treats. And she peed on the floor when she met the receptionist, the vet tech, the vet, the other vet tech and the second receptionist. Talented pup.

Adult canine teeth come in at 5-6 months. That is generally what you age them by. Sorry this is late, Dave just showed me your blog . . . didn't even know you had one.
