And A Checkup

Dax had his one year checkup on Monday. Here are the vital stats:

weight: 23 pounds (55th percentile)
length: 29.7 inches (45th percentile)
head circumference: 49.1 cm (off the charts)

So, his Newby noggin is still enormous. Which I already knew because I have to buy his shirts a size larger than he wears to get them over his head. Really. And if it doesn't have a lap shoulder or snaps/buttons at the neck, I don't even bother. There's no way that shirt is getting over his head. So the poor boy's shirts hang down past his knees because otherwise I nearly break his neck trying to yank it on. Maybe I should just buy button downs for him.

I asked the nurse if we should be worried that he's dropped from 90th to 65th to 55th percentiles in weight. She said that since he refused to let go of his pancake and had been eating it during the entire exam, she wasn't too worried :) He eats quite a bit (more than his sister) and slurps down his milk in record time so he's obviously not starving!

She said he looks great and is happy and healthy! Which was exactly what I wanted to hear :) He had to get a TB test and a shot. The TB test was odd ... the nurse took a syringe and poked it just under the skin of the inside of his forearm. When she injected the liquid a little bubble popped up. We're supposed to keep an eye on the spot and see if it turns red. So far it's a lovely shade of blue-grey from the bruise, but no redness. The shot really bothered him this time. He ended up needing a dose of Tylenol after his nap because he had a bit of a fever and his leg seemed really sore. Boo to shots!

But HOORAY to healthy little boys!

Hooray for good check-ups!!! And big heads...Thomas had the same problem. It leveled out at some point. Glad to hear that Dax is faring so well. I was always afraid he would be underweight, given his aversion to eating...
