Julia Goes to Church

Julia went to church for the first time yesterday. Her parents left the house in a hurry and forgot to bring the camera. She seemed to enjoy it. She got fussy during the opening hymn; Dave took her out to give her a bottle and she came back in time for communion and the benediction.

There is a nursery, but we didn't realize that before going in for the service. And we were late enough that it would have been hard to leave. (Plus, I doubt I would have taken her and left her with strangers anyway!) The lady next to us obviously thought we should have put her in the nursery. However, I sort of feel that if you get all bent out of shape about kids making squeaky noises and you want to take notes on the sermon, perhaps you shouldn't sit in the last row! Or maybe you should watch one of those TV Sunday Services in the privacy of your own home.

David took communion out in the hall with the minister who had taken the bread and juice to the nursery workers. The minister (Dan Hanshew) told Dave that his baby was five months old and his wife had yet to put him in the nursery. He also told us to do whatever we felt comfortable with. So take that sniffy lady in the last pew!!
